Names and ambiguities#

Early or medium sprouting

The 2024 cultivar record and the Anxi government call Huangdan early-sprouting. The China Agriculture Press knowledge base says it sprouts in mid-March and calls it 中生种 (medium).

Notes#

Native to 罗岩美庄, Huqiu town, with more than 100 years of cultivation (cultivar record). The Anxi government gives an eight-month growth period. A 2018 list of the first national batch (1984) omits Huangdan, but its number falls between Tieguanyin (GS13007) and Benshan (GS13010); the omission is probably an error in the list.

Cultivar and tea history. The published HTML is visibly corrupted: quoted words (e.g. the folk names derived from 王淡, the name given by 林宏德) are missing from several sentences; do not rely on those passages.

Encyclopedia-style entry; calls 黄旦 中生种 with sprouting in mid-March (contradicts 早生种 elsewhere). Gives fresh-leaf biochemistry.
