Notes#

The provincial government records provincial approval in 2000 and national recognition in 2002, attributing breeding to the Fujian Academy of Agricultural Sciences Tea Research Institute. Its article calls the pollen parent Huangjingui, the finished-tea name associated with Huangdan.

Jin Guanyin is a cultivar, not proof of a particular geographical origin or a synonym for Tieguanyin. A shared parent does not make separate hybrid selections identical.

Names and young shoots. The 2001 cultivar monograph (p. 92) lists Jin Guanyin under Mingke 1 (茗科1号), classifies it as early-sprouting, and describes purplish-red young shoots with few hairs. These are plant descriptions rather than a description of the finished tea.
