The CAAS breeder profile gives GPD茶树（2020）330019. Selection was undertaken with Jiande’s agricultural extension centre and Longyuan White Tea Development Company.
Spring shoots are milky white and gradually green as they reach four or five leaves; summer and autumn shoots are described as creamy yellow. Spring sprouting is relatively late in the Hangzhou observations. The breeder recommends needle-shaped or curled green tea: “white” in the cultivar’s name is a leaf-colour trait, not a processing category.
