The 2022 breeding report identifies line 84-91-3-2 and records Burma as the seed parent; no confirmed pollen parent is asserted here. Young shoots are purple-red, but mature leaves turn green and colour intensity responds to light and temperature.
This named cultivar is distinct from Yunnan’s Zijuan and from generic “purple-bud tea”. Purple pigmentation alone establishes neither a processing category nor a health benefit.
