Definition#
Compressed or brick tea made for ethnic-minority areas, chiefly Xinjiang, Tibet, Inner Mongolia, Qinghai, Gansu, Ningxia and Sichuan, and treated in policy as a daily necessity. A 2001 State Council circular (国办发〔2001〕49号) kept it under designated producers and wholesalers with a state reserve.
