qizi bing
Literal meaning
seven-sons cake
Definition#
A cake sold in stacks of seven (one 筒 tong); 'seven sons' is auspicious. The format goes back to Qing-era rules standardising round cakes; from the 1970s '云南七子饼茶' was printed on state-factory wrappers, so the name now means a standard ~357 g cake.
