Notes#
Planning for a Lincang tea factory began in 1956. The tea trade had just been converted to joint public-private ownership, and black-tea growing was spreading to Changning, Yunxian, Shuangjiang and Lincang. In 1957 personnel control of the provincial tea company's directly run factories (Fengqing, Menghai, Xiaguan, Lincang) passed to prefecture and county level. Until 1987, tea factories in Lincang were generally just called the Lincang Tea Factory.
In 1987 a Lincang County Tea Factory (临沧县茶厂) was founded. It went bankrupt in 1997, and a private 老临沧茶厂有限公司 was then set up, keeping the 银毫 (Yinhao) mark. A Lincang Prefecture Tea Factory (临沧地区茶厂) followed in 1991 and used both 银毫 and 健身 (Jianshen). From 1998 to 2001 it ran as the Lincang branch of the provincial import-export company (中国土产畜产云南茶叶进出口公司临沧分公司), and from 2001 to 2004 as 云南茶苑集团临沧分公司. After the 2004 restructuring, a partner opened a separate 临沧市银毫茶厂. The old site is now 临沧千年古茶有限责任公司, which also registered '临沧茶厂' as a brand. The Jianshen mark was later handed back to the Lincang tea research institute, which set up 临沧市健身茶叶有限公司 in 2006. A 2004 offshoot, 临沧市临翔区普粹健身茶叶加工厂, also made Jianshen tuocha. Jianshen was named a Yunnan famous trademark in 2005.
No factory digit in the Kunming/Menghai/Xiaguan mark scheme is documented for Lincang. The dates and owners of Yinhao and Jianshen tuocha are disputed, so 'Lincang Tea Factory' on a wrapper does not identify one company.
