Names and ambiguities#
Level of Yang Feng's heritage titles
People's Daily Overseas calls him a 'double' heritage bearer, and the company dates both titles to 2013, but neither says whether they are county, municipal or provincial. Fujian Daily (2023) calls him chairman and a special-grade tea master without a bearer level. A search of the ihchina site found no national bearer record for him.
Notes#
The company dates itself from May 1993, when 政和县鑫隆茶厂 was founded. It says that factory carried on the mission of the former state-run 国营政和茶厂. A 政和县隆合茶厂 followed in July 2003. In 2007 the firm set up 福建武夷山隆合茶业有限公司 and finished a covered-bridge (廊桥) withering hall, which it describes as the only bridge in the world built for withering white tea. In 2010 the business took its present name, 福建省隆合茶业有限公司; the registration date is 24 March 2010. It is based in the 东干 scenic area of 铁山镇, Zhenghe, and reports three processing plants and about 1,000 mu of gardens.
It received a Zhenghe white tea GI-use permit in 2009 and became a Fujian provincial key leading enterprise in 2019. Its founder and chairman 杨丰 (Yang Feng) is described by People's Daily Overseas Edition as a heritage bearer for both Zhenghe white tea and Zhenghe Gongfu black tea. The company dates both titles to 2013 but gives no level. Fujian Daily (2023) reports that the company hosts a 白茶制作技艺(政和)heritage teaching workshop listed in Nanping's first municipal batch. The craft itself joined Fujian's fifth provincial heritage list in 2017.
The company's main publicity claims are that a 2016 white tea cake made with the China National Tea Museum was used for state receptions at the Hangzhou G20, and that it runs the Longhe academy for local gazetteers (方志书院).
