Notes#
Manzhuan lies in southern Xiangming, central among the six mountains, covering about 300 km². Because it was not heavily over-picked or pruned, its old gardens are dense and among the best preserved. Manzhuang (曼庄) is the main and most populous village, with about 500 mu of old garden; Manlin (曼林) has about 1,000 mu, reportedly the best-preserved in Mengla; average tree age in both is over 300 years. At the Qing peak it is said to have produced about 1,000 dan a year, and caravans from Mangzhi, Gedeng and Yibang gathered here. Its large-leaf tea is described as differing from Yibang's small-leaf.
