Lushan Yunwu
Green tea associated with Lushan, Jiangxi, made through heat fixation, rolling, shaping and drying.
Notes#
Name. Yunwu means cloud and mist, a phrase used in more than one tea name. Lushan is the geographic qualifier that identifies this entry.
Process. The local government describes green-tea manufacture, not a separate oxidation category. Specific gardens, picking grades and manufacturing details belong on individual products.
Shaping without losing the pale hairs. Zhongguo mingchazhi (2000, p. 409) describes a sequence of rolling, straightening and rubbing after heat fixation. Near the end, gentle friction makes the pale hairs stand out, while excessive force risks breakage and shedding them. Loose fragments are removed before final drying. This historical account links the visible down to careful finishing, rather than treating it simply as a name or a guarantee of origin.
