Notes#
The breeding report gives 17 October 2008 as the naming approval date. FKK-1 had Kyang as mother and Kimen as father; TTES 21 was selected from its open-pollinated seed progeny. Describing TTES 21 simply as a direct Kyang × Kimen cross omits that additional generation and an unidentified pollen parent.
The institute describes early sprouting, upright growth and wind and drought tolerance. Black tea made from it has a prominent floral-fruity aroma; the institute compares the floral character to citrus flowers. Young shoots become fibrous relatively quickly, so harvest timing matters.
