Definition#
Tray-combining in white tea withering: partly withered leaf from two or more bamboo trays is merged into one, thicker layer so that it loses water more slowly and continues mild oxidation and loss of grassiness. The China Tea Society primer treats it as part of withering (22–25 °C); a 2023 study applied it at 65% or 70% weight loss.

Common confusions#
- Easily mistaken for 筛分 (sieving in refining). The traditional form 併篩 follows MDBG, where 并 meaning "combine" corresponds to 併; Taiwan or Hong Kong usage was not confirmed.
