fire + skill/work
Definition#
The degree and quality of roasting a tea has received — how deeply the heat has 'entered' the leaf — and, by extension, the roaster's skill. Chinese writers distinguish heat that has truly penetrated (焙透) from mere surface heat. It is the umbrella over roast levels such as 轻火, 中火 and 足火.
