scenting
Literal meaning
scent (in closed space) + make
Definition#
Scenting: base tea (茶坯, usually baked green tea) is mixed with fresh, about-to-open blossoms so that it absorbs their fragrance, and the spent flowers are then removed; repeated scentings indicate higher grades. Jasmine tea made this way is classed as a reprocessed tea, and Fuzhou’s jasmine scenting technique became national intangible heritage in 2014.
