The Jingyang tradition of Fu brick tea in Shaanxi, distinguished by its place of processing rather than a claim that the leaves grow there.

Notes#

The place where the brick is made#

The provincial heritage account explicitly describes Anhua dark-tea raw material being transported to Jingyang for brick making. Jingyang identifies this brick-making tradition; it does not imply that the tea leaf was grown locally.

Moistening, filling and hand compression#

The account describes heating and moistening the tea, packing and compressing it, then controlled flowering. Manufacturer, raw-material origin and production date describe a particular product rather than the style as a whole.

The provincial heritage account describes adding a prepared tea infusion while warming and softening the leaf before it is packed into its paper form. Several workers then coordinate filling, supporting and pounding. This particular hand-building tradition is more specific than the generic description 'compressed tea'.

A wrapper used during manufacture#

The account records binding and piercing the filled form before controlled flowering. Its historical account explains a regional technique; it does not prove that a present-day factory follows every hand operation. For a modern lot, separate the producer's stated method from the inherited craft description.
