Notes#
A regional yellow-tea process#
Yellowing is central to this tea’s identity. A heritage practitioner describes repeated drying and enclosed yellowing; contemporary research also investigates controlled equipment, so one workshop’s timing should not be applied to every product.
This is a regional yellow-tea style. A yellow-looking liquor alone does not establish that a tea underwent the required processing.
Revival and process research#
Wenzhou's science association describes Zhong Weibiao's research into reviving the local craft and later work with Zhejiang University's Lu Jianliang team on yellowing mechanisms and process control. The article locates the collaboration in the Pingyang production area and dates the joint technical project to 2022. Modern Huangtang is therefore also a story of recovered and adapted practice, not simply an unchanged recipe handed down intact.
Reading aroma descriptions#
The institutional account uses sweet-corn aroma and apricot-yellow liquor as descriptions of the tea studied. These are sensory comparisons, not ingredients or guarantees for every maker and harvest. Compare Junshan Silver Needle to see how another yellow tea uses repeated enclosed rests with different raw material and shaping.
