Notes#
Historical name and modern scope#
The monograph describes Lanhua tea across a wider area and distinguishes small- and large-leaf picking styles. DB34/T 451–2017 instead defines Shucheng Xiaolanhua within a specified production area in Shucheng. A historical use of the broader Lanhua name is not, by itself, evidence of conformity with that geographical-indication specification.
The orchid form#
The standard describes green tea with connected buds and leaves, an orchid-like form and fragrance. Its materials include local seed-grown populations and cultivars such as Shuchazao. Plucking requirements vary by grade, and the standard covers both hand and machine manufacture. The name describes the tea itself, rather than a process of scenting it with orchid flowers.
