Term · Processing
heated withering
Literal meaning
add-warmth withering
Definition#
Withering with artificial heat (warm-air troughs, heaters). A trade account says white tea rooms at about 38–40 °C cut withering from about three days to one, at the cost of less internal transformation and uneven drying of leaf and stem; a Guangdong draft standard uses 25–35 °C inlet air when ambient temperature is below 20 °C or the leaf is wet.
