Literal meaning
evaluation cup / evaluation bowl
Definition#
The standard white-porcelain evaluation set: a lidded cup in which the sample is infused, and a bowl into which the liquor is poured. In the GB/T 23776-2018 set the general cup is cylindrical, 150 mL, 66 mm high and 67 mm across, with three serrated pouring notches opposite the handle, and is paired with a 240 mL bowl (440 mL for unrefined tea). Oolong uses a 110 mL bell-shaped lidded cup with a 160 mL bowl. The porcelain must be neutral white (N ≥ 9.5 under GB/T 15608), and all pieces in a set must be identical.
