The official list names him a national bearer only in the sixth batch (announced 12 March 2025). Earlier, the 2023 China Culture Daily piece on ihchina has a headline calling him a provincial bearer, while its body says national. Pedaily (2024) also calls him national, before the 2025 list. Treat him as a provincial bearer before 2025 and a national bearer from 2025.
ihchina/China Culture Daily and Pedaily write 琪明茶叶科学研究所; Fujian Daily writes 琪明茶叶研究所. ihchina says he was Party secretary of 武夷山市茶场 (tea farm), while Fujian Daily says 武夷山市茶厂 (tea factory, a 'state medium-sized enterprise'). Fujian Daily dates his farm directorship to 1987, Pedaily to 1986. The founding year of the Qiming institute was not found.
Wang Shunming (王顺明) is a national representative bearer of 武夷岩茶（大红袍）制作技艺 (project VIII-63). He was named in the sixth batch of national bearers, announced by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism on 12 March 2025. He is a senior tea evaluator (国家高级评茶师) and a principal drafter of the Wuyi yancha national standard. He looked after the Dahongpao mother trees for more than 20 years until picking stopped in 2006. His posts in the state sector, per Fujian Daily: Party secretary of the city tea factory (1975); head and Party secretary of the comprehensive farm (1987); Party secretary of the tea factory (1992); general manager of 武夷山市岩茶总公司 (from 1993); and also head of the city research institute (1996). He founded the 琪明茶叶科学研究所, a family-run Wuyishan tea works whose products sell under the 琪明茶 name. Pedaily also says he trained under the Wuyi yancha authority 姚月明 from 1974.
