Notes#
Hengzhou and Hengxian#
The Ministry of Commerce places the registered product in present-day Hengzhou, Nanning, Guangxi, while retaining Hengxian in the protected name. The Chinese approval is dated 9 December 2013. These names refer to the same geographical tea tradition, not two different flower species or tea styles. Fuzhou jasmine tea remains a separate regional entry.
Flowers and tea base#
The specification calls for the protected local jasmine flowers and a green-tea base. It explicitly permits purchased tea from other places when local tea supply is insufficient. A Hengzhou scenting address therefore does not establish that the tea leaves were grown there. Neither the place name nor the finished aroma identifies a particular tea cultivar.
Scenting and finishing#
The documented sequence prepares and cools the tea base, conditions fresh flowers, mixes tea and flowers, then manages the warm scenting pile by ventilation and renewed scenting. Flowers are screened out and the tea dried. A final fresh-flower treatment and screening complete the sequence. The specification describes different scenting schedules, so one fixed round count should not be applied to every product.
