老白茶
Term · Ageing
aged white tea
Literal meaning
old white tea
Definition#
White tea kept deliberately for years to mellow. GB/T 22291-2017 added a clause that white tea can be stored long-term; popular accounts describe fading aroma, reddening liquor and a softer taste with age. No age threshold could be verified from a readable standard: a group standard (T/CSTEA 00021-2021) exists but its text could not be opened, Xinhua cites 10–20 years as an example, and a Taiwan magazine excerpt treats five to six years as already "old".
