Prices of teas claiming this origin
Historically the most prestigious and expensive of the six mountains. A 2025 vendor offer for a 'Mansong' cake from a related area was about 900 yuan per jin (not a benchmark).
Misnaming to watch for: 'Mansong gushu' claims are often doubtful given how few old trees survive; '曼松贡茶' is also used as a modern brand-style label.

Notes#

Mansong (also written 蔓松) supplied tribute tea to the Qing court under the Yibang tusi; Qing sources as cited by vendors and county media speak of 'a hundred dan sent each year' (岁解百担). Its leaf is small-leaf type, sweeter and milder than large-leaf pu'er. Vendors divide it into Wangzishan (王子山, linked to a legend of a Southern Ming prince's grave), Beiyinshan (背阴山, the shaded slope) and a plot near a Dai village by Manla; the historical inhabitants were a Yi group written 香堂 / 香唐 (Xiangtang). Past damage left few old trees: one vendor counts fewer than 70 over 100 years old, with several dying in 2010–11. Do not confuse with the Mansong village in Menghai county.
