Character#
The research station describes a fresh aroma, a mellow taste and returning sweetness. Cultivar and manufacture shape the individual tea; a milk-like aroma in Jinxuan is possible, not inevitable.

Names and ambiguities#
Not the botanical 阿里山茶
The plant name 阿里山茶 is a wild Camellia (C. transarisanensis), not this tea (existing region notes).
Notes#
A broad regional name#
The research station groups the tea areas of Meishan, Zhuqi, Fanlu and Alishan as Greater Alishan, with Qingxin Wulong and TTES 12 (Jinxuan) as the principal cultivars. The registered 阿里山高山茶 origin mark had issued more than 600,000 labels by 2014, the highest count in the Ministry of Agriculture’s report of that year.
An Alishan label is consequently less precise than a village or garden name. It does not imply that the tea grew beside the tourist railway or at one standard elevation.
A check beyond the name#
The official tea-quality portal lists the Chiayi County Alishan high-mountain-tea origin mark and explains serial-number checking and follow-up inspections. An issuing body and verifiable label number provide specific documentation for a lot; a mountain illustration or the cultivar name alone does not.
