Names and ambiguities#

Inside or outside the scenic area?

Definitions of banyan conflict. Some Chinese and forum sources put banyan inside the Wuyi scenic area but outside the core pits. Others put it in the mountains around the scenic area, or at the park's edges. The older soil-based usage defined it by a lower rock content. A 'banyan' tea from one vendor may come from land another would call zhengyan or waishan.
