The citrus pomelo-blossom (柚花) aroma family of Fenghuang Dancong, recognized as a dedicated aroma group in the 2021 Chaozhou grading standard (T/CZTTBZ 001—2021) and frequently included in commercial "ten aromas" lists.
Crisp, neroli-like white pomelo-blossom fragrance with a clean bittersweet citrus-pith edge, brisk fluid texture, and cooling floral return in the throat.
As in Phoenix Dancong. Typically finished with a light charcoal bake to preserve the crisp citrus-blossom top-note.
The 2021 GI standard (DB4451/T 1—2021) lists ten example aromas ending with Mo Li Xiang Dancong and omits 柚花香, whereas the 2017 Jiemian/Chayu trade survey lists 柚花香 in place of 茉莉香. The 2021 Chaozhou grading standard (T/CZTTBZ 001—2021, Appendix A.2) resolves this by giving both 茉莉香型 and 柚花香型 their own formal sections.
Appendix A.2 of T/CZTTBZ 001—2021 defines 柚花香型 by its natural pomelo-blossom fragrance and documents four old mother trees:
1. 坑墘柚花香: growing at ~620 m in Kengqian, Fengxi, aged >90 years (3.24 m tall, 5 kg peak yield). 2. 官头輋柚花香: growing at 1,000 m in Guantoushe, Fengxi, aged ~100 years (2.98 m tall, 5 kg peak yield). 3. 油茶叶 (You Cha Ye): growing at ~980 m in Da’an Village, aged ~300 years (4.24 m tall, 4.38 × 3.85 m crown, 9 kg peak yield), named because its dark, glossy leaves resemble oil-seed camellia (油茶), while its finished tea shows a distinct pomelo-blossom aroma. 4. 柚叶 (You Ye): growing at 1,030 m in Xialiao Village on Wudong Shan, aged ~200 years (2.82 m tall, 3.6 kg peak yield), named because the base of its leaf blade forms a small wing similar to a pomelo leaf.
