Misnaming to watch for: On one German vendor's pages 'Yunxian' is the stated terroir of a cake whose text places the garden on 'Xi Gui Mountain' above the Lancang. Xigui is in Bangdong, Linxiang, not Yunxian, so at least one of the two claims is wrong. The same vendor's 'Ding Xi' cakes are labelled Yunxian; no place of that name could be identified.

Notes#
Yunxian covers 3,659 km² and had 389,180 people at the 2020 census (378,400 resident at the end of 2024). It has seven towns (Aihua, the seat; Manwan; Dachaoshanxi; Yongbao; Maolan; Xingfu; Dazhai), two townships (Xiaojie, Chafang) and three ethnic townships (Manghuai Yi and Blang, Lishu Yi and Dai, Houqing Yi). The whole county lies in the pu'er GI area. The county bulletin gives 26,591 t of tea for 2024 (up 5.1%) and 5,850 t of refined tea (down 27.8%); a 2020 report gives over 200,000 mu of tea.
Its famous old-tree area is Baiyingshan (白莺山) in Manwan town: on the middle slopes of Dabingshan (大丙山, main peak 2,834 m), facing the Wuliang Mountains across the Lancang, at 1,800-2,300 m, about 6 km north-south by 1.6 km east-west, with over 1.8 million wild, semi-wild and cultivated old tea plants. It is promoted as a 'natural museum of tea-plant evolution'. A 2018 trade lecture repeats the tradition that the Bingdao tea population spread to Fengqing and Yunxian. Seat weather (1981-2010): 19.9 °C mean, 914.9 mm of rain.
