Notes#
Nantou is Taiwan's main tea county: about 48.9% of planted tea area in the late 2000s and 49% of production in 2013. Lugu township is the home of Dong Ding oolong and of the competition-tea system; Yuchi township is the black-tea centre around Sun Moon Lake; high-elevation gardens in Zhushan, Shuili, Xinyi and Ren'ai were planted from the 1980s. Ren'ai alone is reported at 800+ ha and 680+ t a year (Wikipedia, citation-needed). TRES runs its central branch at Yuchi and its southern branch (the former Dong Ding work station, 1984) at Lugu.
